What it takes to get 'US' to vegas. 1st installment tbc...

My biggest motivation for Vegas trips is fun. The reality is it takes money. It seems some in Vegas forget the travel aspect...it costs precious spending money to get there to spend what is left. The more that is spent on air and hotel, the less there is to spend.

My Vegas budget goes like this: 500 per day for gaming, 200 per day for fine dining and 200 per day for shopping. This 900 a day budget is where the math starts. Just multiply this by the number of days you want to go and if your a couple double it. This made it much simpler for me to quickly hash out whether the travel expenses out weigh the fun.

For example on a trip alone for four days I alot 3600 dollars. That means I have 2000 for gaming and 1600 for food and shopping. Then I look at the Southwest's low fare calendar and choose a set of flights that are the cheapest that meet my criteria. Four days, non stop, early flight out and late flight back. Then I subtract the amount from my total budget taking an even amount from food and shopping. If the flights are 800 dollars which cuts my non gaming budget in half I will stop and try the calendar each day until the flights are lower. TBC...
